Clay - Research & art making

Continual research and experiments into building with clay by combining it with other raw materials.
Different applications sofar:
- Adobe brick mix ( clay, sand, straw)
- A Roman concrete mix (clay, sand, lime) that also uses unused ceramic pieces
- A clay paper-pulp-crete mix (clay, recycled paper, lime) which is very strong and light in weight

The clays have been picked up from places where it was excavated and going to be thrown away. And the properties of the clay (whether its very fine and sand, or more like a podsol) really impact how well the lime bonds it with the sand. As an ongoing investigation into not only learning more about clay, but also about the potential of upcycling materials that come from nature and are getting thrown away as waste e.g paper, mycelium, oyster shells from restaurant, I am interested in collaborating with others who also work in repurposing natural or manmade waste. Or even just the properties of clay itself and how soils and microclimate of a site effect what they grow, whether it be a grape that is produced for wine or a particular crop.
